John Thomas Kirkpatrick

Denton Record Chronicle, Denton, Texas, Wednesday, September 17, 1919, Page 8, Col. 2: John Kirkpatrick Died This Morning at Terrill; Remains to Lewisville for Interment. "Uncle" John Kirkpatrick, as he was familiarly known here died this morning at Terrell, where he was sent for treatment a few weeks ago. A telephone message to County Judge Ed Kay stated that he hung himself with a roller towel. He had been in feeble health for several months.
Mr. Kirkpatrick had been a resident of Denton county for about fifty years and most of the time has lived in Denton. He was city marshal for several years and for many years and until a few years ago served as night watchman. The last few years he has been working at the College of Industrial Arts. He was 68 years of age at the time of his death. Mr. Kirkpatrick was born in Tennessee and moved to Denton county when he was about 18 years of age.
Those surviving are Walter and Carl Kirkpatrick of Denton and Charlie Kirkpatrick of Wichita Falls.
The body will be brought to Lewisville and interment will be at the Flower Mound cemetery, 5 miles west of Lewisville, the family burial ground. The remains are expected at Lewisville on the night train and funeral services will probably be held Thursday morning.
