Mrs. Jim Lakin, 81, died at 7 a.m. today at Lake Region hospital after an extended illness due to cancer. She entered the hospital Nov. 7. Her sister, Mrs. Betty Tregloan of Yakima, Wash., has been here since June 23 to help care for her.
Born in Sweden May 14, 1876, Clara Pries was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Anderson. She came to the United States with her mother and a sister when she was 9 years old. Her father had come to Millerville three years before and Mrs. Lakin grew up there. She was confirmed at the Christina Lutheran church in 1899. She had lived in Fergus Falls since 1913. She was married to Mr. Lakin at the Augustana Lutheran church June 18, 1930 by the Rev. S. E. Hall.
She leaves her husband, a son, Walter Pries of Monterey Park, Calif., one granddaughter and two great grandchildren. She also leaves five sisters and a brother. They are Mrs. H. A. Pries and Mrs. Selma Brown of Minneapolis, Mrs. Tregloan and Mrs. Agnes Flink of Yakima, Wash., Mrs. Teckla Swanson of Evansville and William Anderson of St. Paul.
A friendly neighbor who enjoyed raising flowers and doing fancy work, she will be missed by her family and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at the Glende-Johnson chapel Monday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Knollwood.
