Morning Olympian, Olympia, Washington, Thursday, March 2, 1995, Page 16, Col. 2: John Williams,68, Olympia died Monday, Feb. 27, in St. Peter Hospital, Olympia. He was born Sept. 14, 1926, to William and Carrie (Broughton) Williams in Jordan, Mont., where he grew up. He attended school in Butte Creek, Mont. Mr. William married Linda Williams on Dec. 28, 1978, in Yelm.
He served in the Army during World War Ii, the Korean Conflict, an the Vietnam era, Serving 1944-1968 and attaining the rank of first sergeant. Mr. Williams received the Bronze Star and numerous other awards and decorations.
He was a member of the non-commissioned Officer's Association, the Loyal Order of Moose, Yelm, and the American Legion Lacey.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife; three daughters, Joan Banty, Olympia, Stella Steele, Kansas City, Mo., and Donna Tobar, Oakley, Calif; two sons. Robert, Yelm, and Michael Morgan, Lacey; a brother James, Spokane, a sister, Nellie Amundson, Yelm; sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by John W. Williams in 1981.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 3, in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, Lacey. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 4, in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, Lacey. Interment will be in Yelm Cemetery, Lacey, with full military honors.
Arrangements are by Woodlawn Funeral Home, Lacey.
