Marvin graduated from Adamson High School in 1936 and from SMU in 1940, where he was a member of Sigma Phi fraternity. He was an independent insurance adjuster and a former City of Dallas juvenile officer. During WWII, he served a an air traffic controller in the Army Air Corps. Marvin made many friends in his membership in the Dallas Christian Church, the Shriners, the ELks Club (#71), Trippers Dance Club, Kermit Dance Club and was one of the founders of the Dallas Knife and Fork Club. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Jesse Hinchcliffe and his loving wife Vandelia Perry Hinchcliffe. He is survived by many cousins and a host of very special friends. Visitation will be at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home 6:00 - 8:00 pm Friday. Funeral Services 12:00 pm Saturday, Sparkman-Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel, Rev. Edwin D. Michael and Rev. E. M. Fjordbak officiating. Interment will follow at Point Enterprise Cemetery, Mexia, TX.

Saturday, October 11, 1997: Services for Marvin Hinchliffe, a well-known retired Dallas independent insurance adjuster and one-time juvenile probation officer, will be at noon Saturday at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. Mr. Hinchliffe, 78, died Thursday of kidney and heart failure at Medical City Hospital in Dallas. He will be buried in Pointe Enterprise Cemetery near Mexia, Texas. The outgoing Mr. Hinchliffe, a longtime Lakewood resident, was a co-founder, board member and president of the Dallas Knife and Fork Club. He also was active in the East Dallas Christian Church, the Shriners, the Elks Club, Trippers Dance Club and the Kermit Dance Club. Friends from as far away from England came to visit Mr. Hinchliffe in the hospital, said his cousin, Joe Dominy of Dallas. "He just had lots of friends, he was very social," Mr. Dominy said. "He was very, very outgoing. He had friends from all economic levels and social levels. He just loved everybody. " Mr. Hinchliffe had a talent for recruiting interesting speakers for the Knife and Fork Club. "He was always getting somebody very interesting to be there," said Mr. Dominy's wife, Mary Lou Dominy. "Famous people from all over the United States. " Born in Mexia, Mr. Hinchliffe graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas in 1936 and from Southern Methodist University in 1940. After serving as an air traffic controller for the Army Air Corps during World War II, Mr. Hinchliffe was a Dallas juvenile probation officer. He later became an independent insurance adjuster, working for many firms. Mr. Hinchliffe leaves no immediate survivors.
