Melvin Edward Beringer, 61-year-old Collins area farmer, died Monday Jan. 27, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Crawford, in Conrad. Beringer had been in ill health for the past several months. Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at the First Presbyterian Church in Conrad at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Stewart of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Hillside Cemetery at Conrad. The family has asked that any memorials be sent to the new Pondera County Hospital. Beringer was born in Crockston, N.D. March 19, 1907 and came to Montana with his parents in 1908 when they settled in the Collins community. He was engaged in farming most of his life and was married to Doris Lathrop July 31, 1928. Survivors include the widow; daughters, Mrs. Emmet (Billie) Embody, Cut Bank, and Mrs. Elmer (Peggy) Crawford, Conrad; a sister, Mrs. Merton (Hazel) Gould, Ulm, and four grandchildren.
