Chattanooga Times Free Press, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Tuesday, July 28, 2009: Nashville---Ben P. Shields Sr., 91, died Saturday, July 25, 2009, after an extended illness. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maxine "Ene" Shields; his son and daughter-in-law, Ben (Barbara) Shields Jr.; and granddaughter, Ashley Shields, all of Nashville; daughter, Shelly Anne Shields, of Costa Mesa, Calif. Visitation will be at Calvary United Methodist Church from 5 to 7 p.m. CDT today, July 28. A burial will be at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Highway 100 at 9 a.m. CDT Wednesday with a Celebration of Life to follow at 10:30 a.m. CDT with the Rev. Peter Van Eys officiating. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations be made to Calvary Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Nashville Humane Society or Friends of Cumberland Heights.
