Ernest Ralph Partaker

(15 Aug 1921 - 21 Mar 2008)

Orange County Register , Mar. 30, 2008: Partaker, Ernest "Ernie" Ralph, was born on August 15, 1921, in Manitoba, Canada, and upon moving to the United States became a naturalized citizen. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp during WWII and flew 26 missions, beginning on 'D' Day, as a bomber gunner in the European theater. His distinguished military service earned him the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters and a Staff Sergeant rank. Upon his Honorable Discharge from service in late 1945 Ernie returned home to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he married June Pischke, went to college, started his career and started a family. Ernie began his career as a CPA for the Arthur Anderson Co. after he graduated from Marquette University. He moved on to the Union Tank Car Corp. in Chicago and, upon receiving his masters degree at the University of Chicago, Ernie became president of the company's real estate development subsidiary. This position necessitated constant travel to California where he eventually retired. Ernie liked a good round of golf, but really enjoyed his travels throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico and Hawaii. Most of all he enjoyed the dozens of cruises he was able to take. Ernie made many friends and all who knew him loved him. He will always be remembered for his unending devotion to his family, friends and relatives. Ernie went peacefully to be with our LORD on March 21, 2008, at Anaheim Memorial Medical Center due to complications from lung cancer. He was a stubborn fighter and beat prostate and colon cancer, but finally succumbed to this new cancer. Those who know Ernie will not be surprised that he did it his way, without pain and at peace with the world. Ernie is survived by his best friend, life partner and ex-wife, Shirley Walker; his sons, Bob and Tom; his sisters, Viola and Myrtle; his five grandchildren, Andrea, Jim, Robin, Erin and Lauren; his four great- granddaughters, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was loved very much and will be greatly missed. It was Ernie's wish that he be cremated with no viewing or funeral service. A private family only memorial service will be held at Pierce Bros. Valley Oaks Memorial Park on April 4, 2008, where Ernie's urn will be interred next to his first wife June. Ernie's family is deeply grateful for the kind care, support and medical attention from the staff at Anaheim Memorial Medical Center: Dr. Fowler and the ladies at the Genesis Medical Clinic; Dr. Jeyakumar (pulmonary specialist); Dr Schenk and the other doctors and ladies at the Radiation Oncology Medical Group, and Dr. Charu and staff at the Pacific Cancer Medical Center.
