The Current Local, Van Buren, Missouri, January 12, 1961, Front Page, Col. 2: Byron Farris of Van Buren Died Saturday at Hospital. Byron C. Farris, 63-year-old retired machinist who lived here, died at the Poplar Bluff Hospital Saturday following an illness of several years. He and the former Mrs. Dessie Young Link were married June 1, 1935. Survivors include his wife; stepmother, Mrs. Lula Farris of Tipton; two step-sons, Ancil Link of Poplar Bluff and Charles Link of Normandy, a step-daughter, Mrs. Don Raymer of Cahokia, Ill., and seven step-grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist Church here where funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. R. E. Fowler officiated and burial was in the Owl Roost Cemetery in the eastern part of the county.
