Carroll Times Herald, Carroll, Iowa, Friday, March 24, 1950, Page 1, Col. 5: August Hansen Dies at Manning. Manning (THNS)---August Hansen, 80, father of Verdis Hansen of Carroll, died at his home in Manning this morning are a short illness. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
Mr. Hansen, born in Stadtsee, Germany, came to the United States in 1881. He had lived in Manning since his retirement from farming in 1917. His wife, who was Emma Kusel, before her marriage died about 10 years ago.
Four children survive; Verdis, Carroll; Mrs. William Sibble, Manning; Mrs. Alma Greteman, Arcadia, and Mrs. Ida Noe, Waterloo. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Anna Meyers, Manning. A brother, Herman P. Hansen, died March 3.
