Posted at findagrave.com:The Post-Register, Idaho Falls, Idaho, August 4, 1970: Joe Clevenger Dies In Boise.(Special To The Post-Register) Boise, Aug. 4----Services for Joe Clevenger, 86, Boise, who died of natural causes at a Boise nursing home Friday, was held Tuesday at the Relyea Memory Chapel in Boise. Interment was in the Dry Creek Cemetery, Boise. Mr. Clevenger was born in Missouri on March 5. 1884. In 1916 he moved to Jackson Hole, Wyo. and freighted by stage and carried mail by horse between Victor, Idaho, and Jackson Hole. He drove the same route in the early days of the motor truck. He later trucked cattle from Driggs to Utah. On Nov. 28, 1926 he was married to May Tompson [Mary Thompson] at St. Anthony. In 1936 he moved to Boise, where he worked for Robbins and Morrison-Knudscn companies. He retired due to an injury in 1948. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. May [Mary] Clevenger, Boise; three sons: Clarence Curtis, San Jose, Calif.; Jesse W. Smith, Boise, and Earl L. Smith, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Marie Cluff, Meridian; Mrs. Joan Kruitmoes, Provo, Utah, and Jeanne R. Clevenger, Boise; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
