Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Little Rock, Arkansas, Monday, April 9, 2012: Jessie Or "GG" Wootten Mallory Grobmyer, 94, of Little Rock died Good Friday, April 6, 2012. She was born in Little Rock, Ark. on August 14, 1917 to the late Frank Lamphier Mallory and Annie Harris Mallory. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Rudolph Grobmyer Jr. She attended Little Rock Public Schools, including Little Rock High School where she was a Class Officer, Cheerleader and President of the Delta Beta Sigma Sorority. She was an enthusiastic camper for many years at Camp Sequoia where she was a winner of the archery and canoeing medals. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics from the University of Tennessee, where she was a member of Chi Omega. While there, she taught swimming and lifesaving. She was an active member in Christ Episcopal Church. She was also Past President of the Little Rock Garden Club, Board Member of the Junior League of Little Rock and a member of the Country Club of Little Rock. Jessie loved spending time with her family who knew her as their very loving and caring GG. She was also blessed with many great friendships over the years. She enjoyed golf, tennis, dancing, bird watching and was an avid reader, including numerous books on tape in her later years. She especially loved traveling adventures, experiencing everything from sailing to Europe on the Queen Mary in the 1930s to her supersonic flight at the edge of space on the Concorde. She always shared her great sense of humor, had a lot of fun and lived her long life very well. Jessie is survived by her three sons, John R. Grobmyer III (Susan) of Fort Smith, Frank Mallory Grobmyer (Wendy) and Mark Wootten Grobmyer (Libby) of Little Rock. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Ellen Grobmyer Wilcox (Lawren), Jacklyn Grobmyer Powell (Jimmy), Ann Grobmyer Bartell (Edward), Gardner Green (Kim), Michael Grobmyer (Amy), John D. "Jack" Grobmyer (Stacy), Andrew Mallory Grobmyer, Jessie Mallory Grobmyer and Mark Draper Grobmyer. She is further survived by 12 great grandchildren, Mallory Wilcox, Katie Wilcox, Moxley Powell III, Grace Bartell, Maggie Bartell, Abby Green, Davis Green, Claudia Grobmyer, Jiles Grobmyer, Elizabeth Grobmyer, Mary Mack Grobmyer and John D. "Jack" Grobmyer Jr. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Mallory Jeffress of Forrest City and a wonderful extended family. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11 at Christ Episcopal Church, 509 Scott Street, Little Rock. A reception will follow at the Church. There will be a private interment following the reception. The family wishes to express their gratitude to her doctors of many years, Dr. Dean Kumpuris, Dr. Drew Kumpuris, Dr. David Lipschitz and her dedicated caregivers, Darlene Robinson, Mattie Davis and Jeanette Wright. The family will receive friends at No. 4 Longfellow Place, Tuesday evening, April 10 between 5 and 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Christ Episcopal Church.
