James Douglas Parsley

The Press-Enterprise, Riverside, California, Friday, July 11, 2003: James Douglas Parsley, 81, died Tuesday of a heart attack in his car in Hemet. Born in Twila, Ky., Mr. Parsley lived in Hemet since 1989. He was a geologist who worked as an aerial surveyor for Teledyne in Iran, Africa, Tasmania, Alaska, Thailand and New Guinea from 1957 to 1972. More recently, he worked for NBS-Lowry in San Bernardino until he retired in 1990. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 12 for 18 years. Mr. Parsley served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He studied geology at Berea College in Berea, Ky. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Society of Exploration Geologists in Los Angeles. Mr. Parsley is survived by his wife, Alberta; two sons, Brian of Washington and Marvin Shue of Hemet; three daughters, Vicki Cordes of Lancaster, Kathy Shue of Hemet and Deborah Seiloff of Wyoming; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at noon Saturday at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet. Friends may call at the mortuary from 4 until 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery.
