Robert Sherman Hewitt

Hewitt, Robert Sherman, 93, died July 9, 2009. He graduated from Perdue University in 1938 with a degree in electrical engineering, was manager of research and development of a digital recorder manufacturer, and manager of Fordel Films and Swift Motion Pictures. He worked for 21 years with worldwide news organizations as editor, writer, photographer, cinematographer and producer, was owner and manager of a full service travel agency, and operated Bob Hewitt Yacht Sales, where he delivered yachts up and down the Atlantic Seaboard with a U.S Coast Guard Master' s Certificate. He also set up radio coverage of manned space programs over its initial two years. In recent years he was active in the Computer Club of Sun City Center as well as the Barbershop Singers. He was a member of First Baptist Church, New York, June 11, 1916 to July 9, 2009. He is survived by sons, Keith and Scott; and five grandsons, Chris, Matt, Kenny, Eric and Greg. Services will be private. Zipperer' s Funeral Home.
