Wainscott, 81, Kansas City, Mo., a former Belvidere resident, who died Jan. 18, were Monday in Kansas City. burial was in National Cemetery, Springfield, Mo. Mr. Wainscott was a leading soil conservationist in Missouri and northern Illinois ,many years. The family moved to Belvidere in 1941 when he was district conservationist with the U. S. Soil Conservation Service. From 1946 to 1964 he owned and operated the Wainscott Windbreak Nursery in Belvidere and was actively associated with the Illinois Men's Garden Club. He also served as a Marine in World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Reliance Bower Wainscott; three sons, Treve, Shell Knob, Mo.; Rolf, Belvidere; Aljoe, Riverside, Calif.; a daughter, Jane Skogman, Cambridge, Minn.; three stepsons, Frank G. Bower, Sandusky, Ohio; Robert B. Bower, Overland park, Kan.; and Richard C. Bower, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, D. D. Wainscott, Lincoln, Neb.; three sisters, Mrs. Oclus Smith, Marionville, Mo.; Mrs. Ladaw Bridges, Carbondale; and Corinth James, Houston, Texas; 26 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
