Richmond, Oct. 5---Homer McClellan Whittington, 71, of Richmond, died at 1 p.m. today at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington after a long illness. He operated the Whittington Jewelry Store here for 40 years before retiring. Formerly of Lebanon, Ohio, he was educated in Columbus, Ohio and Denver, Colo., and was a member of the First Methodist Church and the local Elks Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ellen Engle Whittington; two daughters, Mrs. Hubert Cornelison Jr. and Mrs. R. J. Million, Madison County; two brothers, C. G. and Henry Whittington, Marietta, Ohio, and two grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the residence on Lancaster Avenue by Dr. W. H. Poore. Burial will be in Richmond Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be William R. Engle, Harold Engle, Coleman Reynolds, H. B. Willoughby, David Williams and J. B. Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Spears Turley, Harris Noland, William Park, Paul Burnam, Mack Coy and Phillip Homer Engle. The body was taken to the residence from the Turpin Funeral Home.
