Fairfield, Ia., Feb. 1---Mrs. Elizabeth F. Gilham, aged 93 years, a Jefferson county resident for many years, passed away at her home at 301 North Court street, January 31, following a six weeks' illness. Mrs. Gilham was formerly Miss Elizabeth Endersby, born December 28, 1835, at Jacksonville, Ill. She was married in early life to Dr. C. C. Cottle who passed away in 1880. Later she married C. A. Gilham who passed away in 1911. She is survived by two children, Mrs. T. J. Marcy of Fairfield, and Dr. C. C. Cottle of Los Angeles, Calif., both of whom have been with her in her last illness. She was also a Jefferson county pioneer school teacher and four of her former scholars are living: Mrs. Samuel Turner, James Gregg, E. P. Taylor, the two latter civil war veterans, all of Fairfield, and Sam Billingsley of Glasgow. The funeral services will be held on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home at 301 North Court street in charge of D. U. S. Smith, pastor of Methodist church. Interment will take place in Evergreen cemetery.
