Charles City Press, Charles City, Iowa, Monday, June 21, 2004: Marcia L. Sherwood, 76, of Charles City, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Pastor Gayle Wilcox officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens. Marcia L. Noice Sherwood was born October 27, 1927, in Curtis, Neb. and adopted by George and Retha (Campbell) Noice. She attended school in Scottsdale and Phoenix, Ariz. On August 4, 1945, Marcia was united in marriage to Don Orin Sherwood at Garfield United Methodist Church in Phoenix, Ariz. Marcia was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Pythian Sisters Temple No. 84 and was the pianist and also held chairs as Guard and Manager, the American Legion Auxiliary where she was a past President and Vice-President, she was a musician for the V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Charles City Womens Club Dept. of Home Life, a member of the church choir, was coordinator of the Meals on Wheels for Trinity United Methodist Church, and was President of the United Methodist Women from 1971 to 1973. Marcia is survived by her children Diana Dunlap of Tucson, Ariz., Debra (Thomas) Ward of New Boston, Texas, and Gary Lee Sherwood of Charles City; her grandchildren Crystal (John) Crank of Texarkana, Ar., and Ryan Ward and Nathan Nehls of New Boston, Texas; and three great-grandchildren: Lisa and Tyler Clemens and Kaehly Crank. She is also survived by her sister Genevieve "Jean" Smith of Caldwell, Idaho; a special nephew Bobby Harwood of Dyersburg, Tenn., and a half-brother Carl A. Noice of Colorado Springs, Colo., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marcia was preceded in death by her husband Don, four brothers, and three sisters.
