Coffey, 56, of Spring Hill community, was killed instantly Saturday morning when his car was struck by a northbound train at a crossing just south of the Aubrey railroad station. The automobile was completely demolished. Details of the accident were not available Saturday morning and funeral arrangements had not been made. Coffey is survived by two sons, Homer Coffey, a student at the Teachers College, and Worth Coffey of Olney; one daughter, Miss Ruby Coffey, who lived with her father; two brothers, W. R. and E. H. Coffey of Aubrey; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles T. Wright of Tyler and Mrs. Geo W. Wand of Marietta, Ok. Coffey was a brother-in-law of E. O. and B. D. Simpson of Denton.

Aubrey, July 9---Funeral services for James Madison Coffey, 65, who was killed Saturday morning when his car was struck by a train, were held Sunday in the First Christian church conducted by Rev. W. D. Craig, pastor of the Methodist Church of Royse City, assisted by Rev. C. W. Henson, pastor of the local Baptist Church and Rev.L. K. Wilson, pastor of the local Methodist Church. A quartet composed of J. H. Lanford, W. A. Moore, J. P. Simmons and Winston Connors, accompanied by Mrs. J. T. House at the piano sang "Nearer By God to Thee," "Gathering Home" and "Asleep in Jesus." Burial was in the Belew cemetery and pallbearers were Billie Peterson, L. Hunn, Polk Kirby, R. J. Kirby, W. H. Smith and Lee Miller. A large and beautiful floral offering was cared for by friends of the family.
An unusually large group of friends and relatives were present for the services. Among relatives here from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Dallen Wright and Jack Wright of Tyler, Mr. and Mrs. G. B Wand, Miss Al Wand, and Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Tipton of Marietta, Ok., Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Coffey of Paducah, Mr. And Mrs. G. C. Rue, Miss Lanelle Rue and Mr. and Mrs. Grover Rue of Celina, Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Simpson, Mr and Mrs. Zill Coleman of Walters, Ok., Dr. Jack Simpson of College station, Miss Gladys Simpson of Gladewater, Miss Mae Simpson of Wellington, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Simpson and son Elmer C., Mr. and Mrs. B. D. Simpson, Mrs. Tom Williams and Loule Simpson of Denton and Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Johnson, and daughter Betty Jeanine, of Dallas.
Coffey was born in Ettawa County, Ala., Oct. 18, 1873 and came to Texas with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Coffey, both Now deceased, at the age of three years. They settled in Cooke County and moved to Denton County the following year where he had lived since. He was married to Miss Leslie Simpson at Aubrey, May 1, 1895, who died April 19, 1928. He joined the First Christian Aubrey at the age of 18, being a charter member of this church. He lived in the Spring Hill community east of Aubrey.
He is survived by three children, Homer Coffey of Aubrey, Miss Ruby Coffey at home and Worth Coffey of Olnay; two grandchildren, Misses Ruth and Mary Alice Coffey of Aubrey; two brothers, E. H. Coffey and W. H. Coffey of Spring Hill, two sister, Mrs. Charles Wright of Tyler and Mrs. George B. Wand of Marietta.
