Posted at findagrave.com: Funeral services for Eva Marie Bethell Swanson, 73, Springfield, Mo., formerly of West Plains, were Saturday, June 13, 2009, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mrs. Swanson died at 3:49 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2009, in St. John's Regional Medical Center, Springfield, Mo. She was born Feb. 19, 1936, at Lexington, Neb., to Lindsey A. and Bertha A. Hartman Bethell. She graduated from Grants Pass High School, Grants Pass, Ore., with the class of 1954 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1954 to 1956. On Nov. 6, 1960, she was married at Reno, Nev., to Drexel J. Swanson, who preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1972. Before her retirement in 1995, she was a bookkeeper for Ozarko Oil Company of West Plains. Her children were her life and in addition to watching them grow into adulthood and have children of their own, she enjoyed reading and watching old movies. She is survived by four children, Phillip A. Swanson, wife, Becky, of Springfield, Mo., Frank L. Swanson of West Plains, Mo., Drexel J. Swanson II, wife, Esther, of Springfield, Mo., and Babbette M. Marsh, husband, Craig, of West Plains; six grandchildren, Alysha J. Swanson of Phoenix, Ariz., Christopher P. Swanson of Phoenix, Ariz., Evan Marsh of West Plains, Cheyenne M. Swanson of Springfield, Mo., Drexel J. Swanson III, wife, D.J., of Springfield, Mo., and Ella L. Swanson of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Doris J. Crawford, husband, Bill, of Richmond, Calif., and Verna B. Furnish of Fresno, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. Her parents; stepfather, Frank C. Wynn; and husband precede her in death. Burial was at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
