Frank Oliver Stephenson II

The Oakland Tribune, Oakland, California, Monday, September 1, 1947, Front Page, Col. 8: [It is within a list of accidents over the holiday]. Young Stephenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank O. Stephenson Sr., of 5960 Keith Avenue, was killed Saturday when his car crashed into a concrete bridge abutment on the Sacramento-Stockton Highway, about three miles south of McConnell Station. Highway patrolmen said he apparently fell asleep at the wheel of his car while driving from Stockton to Sacramento. He was dead when a passing motorist discovered the wreck. An employee of the California Packing Corporation, with whom his father has been associated for nearly 40 years, Stephenson recently had been transferred to San Jose. He was a senior grade lieutenant in the Navy during the war and served three years in South Pacific. Stephenson was a graduate of University High School and the University of California.

Surviving him are his widow, Madeline; a daughter Sherryll; his parents and a sister, Mrs. Ralph G. Anderson, of 6025 Pinewood Road. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. from the Hull and Son Chapel, 3051 Adeline Street, Berkeley, followed by inurnment at Mountain View Cemetery.
