The Norman Transcript, Norman, Oklahoma, Wednesday, November 7, 2012: Norman---Frank Crane Jr., 86 years young, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012. Frank was born to Frank and Ida Mae Wobbe Crane in Holdenville on Oct. 11, 1926. Services for Frank will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Frase officiating. Interment will follow at the Holdenville Cemetery.
Frank married Georgia Belle Kirkpatrick on Jan. 4, 1948, in Holdenville at the Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church. He had dreamed of this day since he had first seen Georgia in the fourth grade at Central school. His wife, Georgia, preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 2009. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage and life together. His favorite hobbies were playing bridge with his favorite partner, Georgia. He loved reading, collecting books, coin collecting, watching movies and sports. He was very political and a devout member of the Democratic party.
Frank enjoyed living in Holdenville for his entire life. He had many accomplishments. He was an Eagle Scout in 1942, played on the Holdenville High School basketball team 1941 through 1944 (on 1942 State Championship team) and played football for HHS. He graduated high school in 1944. During WWII, he was in the U.S. Navy 1944 through 1945. He attended Marion Military Institution of Marion, Ala., in preparation for entering West Point. Frank also attended the University of Oklahoma 1946. He graduated from the Kansas City School of Watchmaking in 1948. He operated and owned the Frank Crane Jewelry from 1948 until 1984. He worked as a carrier clerk for the U. S. Postal Service from 1966 until he retired in 1998.
Frank was an active member of United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher and youth advisor. He was the Cub Master of Cub Scouts for three years. He coached Little League Baseball and Football for several years. Frank was a charter member of the Elks Club and was Exalted Ruler for three years and worked as the secretary of the Elks club for seven years
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Crane Sr. in 1955 and Ida Mae Wobbe Crane in 1992; a sister Norma Jeanne Hilton in 2012; and a daughter Susan Crane in 1949.
Frank is survived by his son, Roy Frank Crane and his wife Denise of Seminole; his daughter, Karen Ruth Crane of Norman; his nephew, Michael Allen Kirkpatrick and his wife Kathy of Eufaula Oklahoma; his niece Mary Margaret (Peggy) Kirkpatrick of Little Rock, Ark.; his niece, Georgia Susan Glass and her husband Mike of San Marcos, Calif.; his niece, Patricia Frase and husband Tom Frase of Little Rock, Ark.; his nephew, Jeffrey Lynn Hilton and his wife Joyce of Lascassas, Tenn.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.
