Walter Stauffer

King County Journal, Bellevue, Washington, Saturday, October 18, 2003: Walter N. Stauffer of Redmond died Oct. 15, 2003, in Redmond. He was 89. Mr. Stauffer was born Aug. 10, 1914, in Cozad, Neb. He married Hazel M. Witte of Gothenburg, Neb., on Aug. 12, 1936. Mr. Stauffer moved to Kirkland in 1941 and worked in the war effort during World War II at Lake Washington Shipyards. After the war he worked in the floor covering industry and owned Walt's Linoleum Shop in Bellevue until 1961. After retiring, he worked for the Snohomish Golf Course. He enjoyed country and bluegrass music and played the banjo, harmonica, guitar and violin. He also enjoyed golfing and spending winters in Arizona. In addition to his wife of 67 years, survivors include his son, Roger Stauffer of Lopez Island; daughter Kay Honn of Redmond; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Green's Chapel of the Valley, 16551 N.E. 79th St., Redmond. Burial will follow at Evergreen-Washelli in Seattle. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
