Southern Illinoisan, Carbondale, Illinois, Sunday, April 14, 2002, Page 11: Christopher -- Clifford Udav Hawkins, 85, of Kingsport, Tenn., formerly of Christopher, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 11, 2002, at Greystone Healthcare Center, following a lengthy illness. He attended Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church. Born in Pocahontas, Ark., he had lived in Christopher, Ill. for several years and has resided in Kingsport for the past three years. After 20 years of service, he retired as an operator in chemical production. Mr. Hawkins also served as a Private in the U.S. Army. His wife, Mrs. Evelyn (Kirkpatrick) Hawkins preceded him in death. Surviving are his daughters, Linda Wisneski and husband, Jim, New Lenox, Ill., Ruth Hawkins, Kingsport, Tenn. and Judy Blevins, Kingsport, Tenn.; a son, Larry Hawkins, Crete, Ill.; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and four sisters. Calling hours will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2002, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown. Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday with Pastor Winston Sweeney officiating. Military rites will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Cemetery by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post No. 3382 of the VFW.
