Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Bisplinghoff Funeral Home for Newton F. Knight, 88years old, of Lilbourn, who died at 6:10 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lee O. Knight, in Fornfelt. Rev. T. O. Rorie, Jr., pastor of the First Methodist church at Illmo, was in charge, and burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Charleston with the Charleston Masonic Lodge officiating at grave side rites. Newton Frank Knight, a retired section foreman for the Cotton Belt Railroad was born May 6, 1860, at Ten Mile, Tenn., and came to the Illmo-Fornfelt community on Nov. 28, 1974. He had resided at Lilbourn many years, but for the past several months had lived with his sons, Lee O. Knight at Fornfelt, and George R. Knight of Illmo. Mr. Knight was a charter member of the Campbell Masonic Lodge, and was a member of the Bernie Baptist church. His wife, who survives, for the past four months has been making her home with her son, Lee O. Knight, and daughter, Mrs. Edna Horn of Cape Girardeau. Mr. Knight was married three times, to Miss Linuemma Holleck April 24, 1881, in Grandsburg, Ill., who died in 1901, and to Mrs. Phoebe Ann Hardin, April 17, 1904, in East Prairie, who died Aug. 17, 1935, and to Mrs. Helen Hammill in November, 1936. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marion Carter of East Prairie and Mrs. Alva Duncan of Jonesboro, Ill., three sons, George R. Knight and Lee O. Knight and Frank J. Knight of Flint, Mich., 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
