Daily American Republic, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Monday, Jan. 28, 2013: Fisk, Mo---Raymond Lee Hays, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Wednesday Jan. 23, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Hays was born Oct. 21, 1926, at Thayer, Mo. He had lived at Poplar Bluff for 20 years and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He had formerly been a member of the First Baptist Church in O'Fallon, Ill., and Beakleyville Baptist Church in East Strondsburg, Penn., where he served as deacon, song leader and teacher. He was a member and leader of the Broseley Gospel Choir. He enjoyed Southern Gospel Music and sang with the Ray Harmony Quartet for 25 years. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and worked as a packaging specialist for the U. S. Army for 39 years. On Oct. 30, 1948, he married Reverta Ray. She survives. Other survivors include three children, Rhonda Tempia and husband, Frank, of Belleville, Ill., Dwight Hays and wife Cathy, of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Barbara Cramer of Maryville, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Nathan Cramer and wife, Leta, Jason Hays, Bradley Tempia and wife, Elsa, Stephen Cramer and fiance, Nicole, Amy (hays0 Wagner and husband, John, Nicole (Tempia) Colbert and husband Christopher, Kelly (Hays) Azpurua and husband, Alfredo, and Tracee Cramer; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; four sisters, Carolee Barton, Betty Hendrix, Irl Martin, and Reva Baker. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Westwood Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, Mo. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk, with Pastor Steve Proctor officiating. Burial will be at Missouri veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo.
