She died in Chicago Hospital, from shock & burns from an accidental fire in her home at 208 East 46th Street. This incident also killed her daughter, Evelyn Beachy.

Mary Brackett, 63 years old, was burned to death, and her daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Beachy, an artist and instructor in the art institute, was seriously burned last night at their home on East Forty-sixth street.
