The Pantagraph, Bloomington, Illinois, Wednesday, May 23, 2007, Main Edition, Page D 4: Normal - Johnny "Cowboy" H. Rist, 57, Normal, died at 8:28 p.m. Friday (May 18, 2007) at Danvers. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the memorial home. The Rev. Mark Wallace will officiate. Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, with military rites conducted by VFW Post 454. Memorials may be made to the family. Johnnny was born Nov. 22, 1949, in Normal, the son of Vinel Rist and Beulah Bicknell Rist. Johnnny is survived by two daughters, Cindy Rist, Springfield, Va., and Carolann Rist, Richmond, Va.; grandson, Sarosh Gilani; two sisters, Caroline Fogler and Helen Craig, both of Normal; and brother, Layton Barbee of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. He was a self-employed mechanic. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1968 to 1985.
