Daily Mountain Eagle, Jasper, Alabama, Friday, August 1, 2014: Carolyn Black, 78, of Jasper, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Walker Baptist Medical Center. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at 2 p.m. at her church, Boldo United Methodist. Black worked many years in education for the Walker County and Jasper City school systems. She ended her career as supervisor of elementary education for the city of Jasper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Andrew Black Jr.; sister, Boyce Ann Solosky; mother, Stella Gregory; and father, Raymond Gregory. She is survived by her son, Andy Black; several cousins; and a host of other loving family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Boldo United Methodist Church, 960 Sunlight Road, Jasper, AL 35504.
