Halliburton, 73, of Bigfork, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1992 of natural causes at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. He was born March 13, 1919, at Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Lue and Clara Halliburton. He was raised and educated in Iowa and eastern Montana.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps on May 27, 1941. He was an aircraft mechanic and delivered airplanes during World War II to places such as England, Northern Africa and the Middle East. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sgt. on Jan. 9, 1946. On Feb. 7, 1947, Lue married Evelyn Olson at World Point, and they lived in the Bigfork area since 1964.

A man of many talents, Lue was employed as an electrician, carburetion mechanic, woodworker and appliance repairman. He retired in 1964 after 11 years with the Bigfork Waste Water Treatment Plan. Lue enjoyed tinkering and could fix most anything mechanical.

He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Bigfork. Surviving family members include his wife, Evelyn, at the family home in Bigfork; two sisters, Orlena Barnard of Finley Point, and Alsina Day of Burns, Ore.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Bigfork, with the Rev. Herb Knutson officiating. Urn burial will take place at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are by Weatherford Funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Bigfork Quick Response Unit, P.O. Box 266, Bigfork, 59911; or Bethany Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 398, Bigfork.
