Vinita Daily Journal, Vinita, Oklahoma, Aug. 20,1953: An autopsy report today revealed that both Elmer David Short, 38, and his wife, Daisy Bea, 33, died of suffocation in a 15-foot water well some time last Friday. Evidence indicated Short probably planned to put an extension on a pipe leading down into the well and that he probably asked his wife to go along to help. Short of Vinita; six brothers, Emory and Delbert Short both of Napa, Calif.; William C. Short stationed with the U.S. Navy in San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Asbury, Stockton, Calif.; and Mrs. Imogene Williams, Occidental, Calif..
