On the 1870 U. S. Census of Butler, Bates Co., Missouri, Aaron appears with his wife Harriet and children Lewis, Mattie, Grant and Rosa. Aaron works as a common laborer.
On the 1880 U. S. Census of Charlotte Township, Bates Co., Missouri, the family is indexed as Warner instead of Garner. Aaron and Hattie are listed with their children Lewis, Grant, Rosa, Elmer and Cary. Aaron is a farmer.
Nebraska State Historical Society has records of 1860-1954 Tract Books Index. This was a homestead entry record. It reads: Aaron A. Garner, Section 18, Township 13, Range 23 W, Reel 23. It is located in southwestern Custer Co., Nebraska. It was 160 acres purchased for $2.50 per acre. It was purchased October 13, 1884 and was relinquished (released for re-sale) April 19, 1887.
From the book, Death Notices and Obituaries of Bates Co., MO and Surrounding Counties 1868 thru 1888, Compiled by Norma (Lacy) Fritts, page 116: Listed as Garsier, Aaron, Bates County Record [newspaper] 02 May 1885. On last Saturday afternoon the sad news came that AARON GARNER of this township, died suddenly in Nebraska. He went there last March to open up a farm for one of his boys, the family remaining on their farm northwest of Virginia [Virginia is a township in Bates County].
A copy of his probate file from Bates County, Missouri failed to show information on an exact date of death or where he died.

November 2016 Contacted the Broken Bow Public Library, 626 South D. St., Broken Bow, NE 68822 by calling 308-872-2927. Films of the Custer County Republican are at the Custer County Nebraska Historical Museum.Contacted Tammy at the Custer County Nebraska Historical Museum at 308-872-2203 on November 11, 2016. Called each month afterwords until March 22, 2017, when she was able to tell me what sources she used. Newspapers for that area are on microfilm, not found. They have actual copies of the newspaper, no information found. She contacted the National Archives branch in Kansas City, Kansas. They do have files on turn back of land records. Currently being microfilmed by Family Search. No information. Tammy contacted the State Archives. No information there, either.
