Idaho Press-Tribune, Nampa, Idaho, Monday, May 24, 1999: Graveside services for Archie Deloss Byington, 95, of Homedale, who died Thursday, May 20, 1999 at the Homedale Nursing Home will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 24, at the Marsing Homedale Cemetery. Bishop Jerry Anderson, Homedale and Elder Greg Keister, Marsing of the LDS Church will officiate under the direction of the Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Homedale. Friends may meet at the cemetery.

Art was born November 22, 1903 at Lava Hot Springs, Idaho to James and Sarah Byington. He was reared and educated in Lava Hot Springs. He married Leila Porteous on February 28, 1937 in Stockton, California. The couple made their home in Sacramento before moving to Idaho in June of 1937. They lived in Parma, Burley and Grand View before locating in Homedale in 1943. He was a farmer and truck owner-operator in the valley for several years. He was a member of the LDS Church.

He is survived by a son, Phil (Bev) of Weiser; four daughters, Gayle (John) Spencer of Homedale, Darlene Stattner of Caldwell, Linda Cox of Emmett and Deborah (Mike) Nihart of Nampa; one brother, Ardell Byington of Utah; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Leila his wife of 48 years, a son-in-law, Jim, his mother and father, two sisters and seven brothers. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Homedale.
