John Schermer, who was retired as chief plumbing inspector for the City of Mobile, died Tuesday. He is survived by his wife, Willie Gray Schermer of Mobile; one son, Dr. John Schermer Jr. of Englewood, N.J.; one stepson, Joseph Donald Kirkpatrick of Alberta, Ala.; six grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from Little Flower Catholic Church in Mobile. Interment will be in Point Clear Cemetery.

Schermer---A native of Battles Wharf, Alabama, and a resident for many of Mobile, died in a local hospital on Tuesday, November 4, 1960. He [worked] for the City of Mobile. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Willie Gray Schermer of Mobile; one son, Dr. John W. Schermer of New York City, New York; one stepson Col. Joseph D. Kirkpatrick of Elberta, Alabama; four sisters, Mrs. Aleyce Couvillion, Opelouses, Louisiana, Miss Rosalie Schermer, Mobile, Miss Schermer*, Mrs. Elsa S. Wells, Birmingham, Ala.; one brother, Mr. Phillip James Schermer, Mobile; six grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from Little Flower Catholic Church on Thursday, November 6, 1980 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Timothy Deasey, Celebrant. Concelebrants were Rev. Msgr. David Sullivan, V. G., Rev. Russell Biven and Rev. Peadar Dalton. Pallbearers were Donald Kirkpatrick, Steve Kirkpatrick, Bobby Lee, Dr. Gordon Spafford, Emil J. Schermer and Tom Mooney. Interment was in Point Clear Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin St. Ext., Mobile, Ala.
