Madison, Iowa, Friday, June 29, 1900, Page 3, Col. 5: Carr---At the home, No. 431 Second street, Thursday, June 28, at 11:45 p.m., Eli Carridon Carr, of consumption. The deceased was born in Jefferson Township, this county, October 4, 1852, and resided in this city the most of the intervening years until this time of his demise. He was a carpenter by trade and is survived by two children, Misses Viola and Maud, an invalid sister, Miss Lydia Carr and two brothers, Henry and Russel, the two latter being absent from the city. Mr. Carr was up and about a few hours previous to his death and talked with friends on the street about 6 p.m. He retired early, as was his usual custom. About 11 o'clock he was taken with a violent coughing spell and fort five minutes later expired. He was a quiet, industrious citizen all his life, respected by all who knew him and his death is lamented by all. The heartfelt sympathy of the community goes out to his bereaved daughters and sister, who sorely fell the loss of a kind father and brother. The funeral will be in charge of the Second Ward Hose Company, of which he was a member. The time of funeral will be announced later.
