Athens Daily Review, Athens, Texas, June 22, 2004: Lee Gray Wilson was born Sept. 16, 1910, in Cleveland County, Arkansas, the youngest of 10 children, to William Thomas and Aletha Jane Sanders Wilson. The Rev. Wilson was a retired Methodist minister and served pastorates in the Arkansas Conference at Carthage Circuit, Columbia Circuit, Lockesburg, Keith Memorial-Malvern and Grady-Gould. His pastorate at Grady-Gould also included chaplainry of Cummins State Penitentiary. In 1952, he and his family transferred to the Louisiana Conference, where he served pastorates at Wisner, Jonesville, Mer Rouge, Lakeview Minden, Coushatta, Vinton, Logansport and St. Marks-Monroe. He retired from full-time ministry in 1977. He was preceded in death in 1997 by his wife of 54 years, Ann Kirkpatrick Wilson; parents, William Thomas and Aletha Jane Sanders Wilson; brothers, Harvey, John, Sam and Eugene Wilson; sisters, Pearl Hudson, Mary Carter, Margaret West and Helen Pool. His survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Elvin Adair of Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Kerry Falgout of Shreveport, La., Aimee Williams of LaRue and Angela Neal of Athens; stepgrandsons, Jared Adair of Athens and Eric Adair of LaRue; great-grandchildren, Rowan Clark, Aric Wilkerson and Luke Wilkerson of Shreveport, La., and Katelin Willingham of Athens; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff of South Place Nursing Home -- the Rev. Wilson's "buddies" -- for their love and friendship, and the tender care and kindness shown to him during his residency there.
