Kirkpatrick, 89, of Washington passed away at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Washington Christian Village, surrounded by her family.She was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Bear Creek, Ala., daughter of Silas and Leota Brakefield Birdyshaw. She married Arthur Kirkpatrick on Aug. 10, 1946, in Tupelo, Miss. He passed away on Feb. 14, 1989. One brother and three sisters also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Donald (Darlene) Kirkpatrick of Owensville, Mo., and Harold "Hal" (Suzette) Kirkpatrick of East Peoria, Ill.; and one daughter, Patricia "Trish" (Tom) Dalton of Washington, Ill. Also surviving are five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was the last surviving charter member of Sunnyland Church of the Nazarene. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at her church. She was an accomplished seamstress.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2017, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Rita Lovell will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be one-hour prior to her service. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given to Sunnyland Church of the Nazarene.
