Mary "Polly" Ann Kirkpatrick was born 4 April 1820, probably in Illinois, most likely in Bond County. She married John Sparks who was born 25 March 1814 in Tennessee. His parents were Able and Sarah Sparkes, both of whom are buried in Grant County, Wisconsin, just South of the little village of Arthur, in the McReynolds Cemetery (on the farm property) alongside Highway 80. We do not have a death date for John Sparks, but Mary Ann (Kirkpatrick) Sparks died 9 September 1876 at the age of 56 years and five months. She is buried in the Kirkpatrick Cemetery near Rewey, Wisconsin, but her husband is not, or at least there is no marker to indicate such.
