Elleanir Catherine Whitsell
(3 Jul 1911 - 17 Jul 2004)
Published in Bakersfield Californian from August 8 to August 9, 2004: A Grand Lady with sparkling blue eyes and a charming wit passed away quietly July 17, 2004. Elleanir was admired for her humor, her compassion, her mental astuteness, and her devotion to her family. She had lived independently for 24 years, after her husband, Sam had died, prematurely of cancer in 1978. Mom and Dad had raised three children, Susan Lund of Seattle, Washington, Donna Miller of Nashville, Tennessee, and Dr. David Winegar a local dentist of Bakersfield. She had seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mom had several talents. She was an excellent seamstress and dressmaker. She painted with oils and water colors, and she worked as a dental technician for a local orthodontist, Dr. Charles Linfesty. She enjoyed card games, Scrabble, Dominos, and puzzles and when Dad was alive they played Chess regularly. Mom was the youngest of five siblings, three brothers and one sister. All have preceded her in death. Now she resides with them in Heaven beyond the pain and discomforts that she experienced during the past few months of her life on earth. Mom and Dad were common people of uncommon character certainly model parents that we grew to appreciate and to love and they are and will be missed for a very long time. Inurnment will be at Hulls Walnut Creek Chapel and Columbariun, Walnut Creek, California.
