Brainerd Daily Dispatch, Brainerd, Minnesota, Wednesday, October 7, 1959, Page 2, Col. 1: Pine River Man drowns In Navy Mishap. Pine River---Funeral services for Paul Ernest Taylor of Pine River, who was drowned off Guam Sept. 26 while serving with the U. S. Navy, will be held at Northland funeral home here Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Harvey Swenson officiating. Taylor was drowned while engaging in deep sea diving. He was the son of Mrs. T. Dabill who lives west of Pine River. Taylor lived here until he joined the navy six years ago. He was born Dec. 20, 1935 in Minneapolis. The Pine River American Legion will conduct military rites at the funeral and Lt. Commander Craig of Duluth will present a flag to his mother. The body is to arrive in Pine River at 1:13 a.m. Thursday. Keith R. Peasley of the Navy is the navy escort.
