CASHMERE _ Gladys E. Schober, 75, a longtime Cashmere resident, died Saturday morning, June 26, 1993, in Central Washington Hospital. She was born Nov. 30, 1917, to Archibald J. and Mabel L. (Copeland) Pierce in Grant County, Minn., where she grew up and received her early education. She married Loyal Fremont Schober on Dec. 25, 1935, in Becker County, Minn. The family moved to Cashmere in 1946. Mrs. Schober worked at Aplets and Cotlets and later retired from Blue Star Growers in Cashmere. She was a member of the Cashmere First Baptist Church and was the church's first woman deacon. She was a member of the American Baptist Women's Society and worked as a volunteer hostess for the Chelan County Historical Museum in Cashmere for many years. Survivors include four daughters, Ramona Olson of Belfair, Evelyn Strutzel of Monitor, Audrey Schmitten of Bellingham and Nancy Allbough of Spokane; a brother, Raymond Pierce, Wenatchee; two sisters, Martha Martin, Sedro Woolley, and Helen Denney, Tacoma; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, two brothers, a sister and one grandchild. Arrangements are by the Braun Funeral Home, Cashmere.
