May Geary was born near Pittsburg, Kansas, September 4, 1877, and died at Iola, Kansas, October 8, 1929, aged 52 years, 1 month and 4 days. She was married to Ira N. Swain at Pittsburg February 22, 1899. They moved to Iola in July 1900, and have lived here continuously since that time. To this union two children were born: Mrs. Viola Sniff of Caddo, Colo., and Mrs. Kathryn Clevenger, of Iola. She united with the Methodist church in 1910 and has been a member since that time. Owing to ill health she was confined to her home most of the time for the last few years, but her love for her church and her faith in her Lord never wavered. She is survived by her husband, two daughters and five grandchildren; also three brothers: J. M. and L. A. Geary, of Pittsburg, and J. I. Geary of Girard; and four sisters: Mrs. Chloe Hieronymus of Cherryvale, Kans., Mrs. Myrtle Gossett, of Detroit, Mich., Miss Mildred Geary and Mrs. Gladys Robinson, of Pittsburg. The funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home, the Rev. W. P. Wharton officiating. Burial was in Highland Abbey.
