Stanley P. Zolczynski, Jr., 63, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and formerly of Rapid City, South Dakota and Oelwein, Iowa passed from this world on Saturday morning, March 12, 2016 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. He was with his family, surrounded with love, as he fought a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein with Carol Hamilton officiating. Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday and after 9:30 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein with graveside military honors by the Air Force Honor Guard.
Stan was born May 17,1952 to Stanley and Lucile Zolczynski of Oelwein, Iowa. He graduated from Oelwein Community High School in 1970. He worked at his father's service station, Stan's Standard. Stan was united in marriage to Becky (Russell), June 27,1975. Their 40 years together were blessed with two children, Jason and Angela. His family gave him his most pride and joy. Stan joined the Air Force in 1977. He served proudly for 23 1/2 years, stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D. and Zweibrucken Air Base, Germany. He received numerous awards and accommodations, retiring in 2001. Stan worked for the United Judicial System for the state of South Dakota in Rapid City and more recently in Sioux Falls for 14 years. Stan was very proud of his work with the court system. He retired in September 2015 to work on his health issues and to spend more time with his family. Stan's greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, and grandsons.
Stan is survived by his wife: Becky Zolczynski of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; son: Jason (Christina) Zolczynski, grandsons: Tyler and Jared all of Plymouth, Minnesota; daughter: Angela (Rob) Rodriguez, grandson: Robbie all of Omaha, Nebraska; 1 sister: Luanne Zolczynski and 1 brother: Michael Zolczynski. He was preceded in death by his parents.
