He was supervisor of the commission department for the United Transportation Union, Lakewood, Ohio, and a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church, Port Richey. He was a member of Grand Lodge 374 AF&AM, Oelwein, Iowa. Survivors include his wife, Helen Foose Smith; a son, Edwin C., Garfield Heights, Ohio; a daughter, Darlene Gahan*, Cleveland; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. National Cremation Society, Holiday.
