Posted at findagrave.com: Austin W. Carter, 66, of 3501 Rainey Road, administrator of Carter's Guest Home, died Sunday in Baptist Medical Center after a long illness. Services: 2 p.m. today at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home. Burial: Jackson Memorial Gardens* with Masonic rites at the graveside. Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, the former Aline Peacock of Simpson County; three sons, Jimmy T. Carter of Prentiss, Joe L. Carter of Jackson, and Jerry A. Carter of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Barbara Ann) Bort of Lancaster, Calif., and Miss Tamara E. Carter of Jackson; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Frank Carter and Miss Thelma Carter, both of Jackson.
A native of Noxapater, Mr. Carter had lived in Jackson since 1945 and was owner and administrator of Cartor's Guest Home, a member of Forest Hill Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church of the Mended Hearts Association, a fellow in the American College of Nursing Home Administrators, and was the past president of Mississippi Health Care Association.
