Mary Pauline Lenora Reid
(11 Jul 1858 - 5 Jun 1898)
Arizona Weekly Journal Miner, Prescott, Arizona, June 15, 1898, Page 2: Died at Lower Verde, Yavapai County, Arizona, June 5, 1898, Mrs. Mary L. Wines, a native of Missouri, aged 40 years, wife of Elias Wine. Deceased came to the Verde Vally from Colorado six years ago, and during her residence here has won the esteem of her neighbors, which was fully evidenced by the large attendance at the funeral. She leaves a husband and eight bright, pretty children, one boy and seven girls. Death is sad at all times, but it seemed to me the weeping of those children was as affecting on those present as it is possible for anything to be imagined. Rev. Claude Thompson officiated at the services. A good wife and kind mother and neighbor has been called away, and "May He who tempers the wind to the shorn lamb," watch over and cause others to extend a helping hand to those sweet little motherless children. There were fully two hundred people present at the grave, and if there was one who was not visibly affected, I failed to notice it. G.W.H.
