Posted at Find A Grave: Obituary (Provided by Jeanne Porter). Died. CARR - In this city, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Lyman M. Kells, Jane C. Truesdale, wife of J. D. Carr, aged 84 years. At a ripe old and beautiful old age one of the pioneers of Sauk Centre has been "led forth with peace." Her's was not an eventful life--it was something better. She was a devoted wife and parent, a friend to the friendless, in sympathy with human life in every phase of it, from infancy to old age. Quick, bright and cheery, she had a disposition which inspired anyone who came within its influence, and to her no privation or labor was a hardship which added to the pleasure and comfort of those about her. She was a good, true woman-a type beyond which little is left to be desired. Jane C. Truesdale was born on March 25, 1816, at Cedarville, Herkimer Co., NY, where her life was spent upon a farm. In 1837 she removed with her parents to Michigan, where she was married to J. D. Carr three years later. In 1845 they removed to Columbia County, Wis., and thence in 1855 to Rice County, in this state, coming to Sauk Centre in 1865, since which time she has been a resident here. Her sixty years of married life has not all been without its trials, but she rose above and superior to them--and was a happy and contented wife and mother. Her funeral was held on Monday from the Episcopal church, Dr. J. F. Hamilton officiating. It was largely attended by sorrowing friends and neighbors. (Newspaper not identified.
