Nowata Star, Nowata, Oklahoma, June 7, 2006, Page 12, Col. 4: Funeral services for Emil J. Keeler were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at Benjamin Funeral Service, Nowata. Burial followed at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Lenapah, Oklahoma. Emil J. Keeler was born September 25, 1928, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Guy Ernest and Daisy (Martin) Keeler. He passed from this life June 1, 2006, at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, after reaching 77 years of age. He attended Delaware schools, and lived his life in the Nowata and Delaware areas. Mr. Keeler served his country during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharge from the United States Air Force.
On October 1, 1951 he married Lois Marie McHughes in Carson City, Nevada. They made their home in Delaware and lived there the remainder of their years. Mr. Keeler worked many jobs including carpentry, and oil field hand. But, is most remembered as a farmer that loved working with his cattle. His family remembers the gardens that fed many of his friends and family. He loved to spend his spare time at auctions and flea markets looking for that great bargain. He will be missed by all his friends and family as they were both close to his heart at all times. Preceding Mr. Keeler in death are his parents, Guy and Daisy Keeler; wife Lois, brothers, Harley and Gerald Keeler; and a grandson, Kenneth Brown. Surviving Mr. Keeler are his daughter, Mary Schonnher, of Delaware; grandchildren Janica Tiry, Crystal Forehand, Tonya Brown; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Hackett of Renton, Washington, many other relatives, friends and loved ones.
