Howard Augustus Aycock

He served as principal of the Thomas Jefferson High School from 1954 to 1967, when he had to take a nearly retirement at the age of 41 upon doctor's orders. Mr. Aycock served 42 years in the public schools of Texas, beginning his teaching career in 1926 at Mercury-McCullough County, Texas, while continuing working towards his B.A. Degree at McMurry College in Abilene, Texas, which he completed in 1930. He also served as high school principal and coach at Lohn, Melvin, Millersview, Eldorado , Rankin, and McCerney schools. He was superintendent at of the van Horn district, 4 years before coming to El Paso in 1943 as principal of Alamo School. He was active in the 50th anniversary celebration of Alamo School held in 1950.

Aycock, an attorney, practicing law in San Antonio, Texas. He is also survived by a sister Eula Aycock Neal of Victoria, Texas, seven grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Harding, Orr and McDaniel Montana avenue chapel. Rev. Jack Riley of the St. Paul's United Methodist church officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen East Cemetery, 112100 Montana Avenue. Arrangements by Harding-Orr & McDaniel, 220 Montana Avenue.
