ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Pauline E. Koelsch will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Evangel United Methodist Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Jeffrey Utecht officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Viola, rural Rochester. Mrs. Koelsch, 87, formerly of Rochester, died Friday (Dec. 8, 2006) at Mapleton Community Home in Mapleton, Minn. Pauline E. Cook was born April 20, 1919, in Lincoln, Minn. She was reared in Ericsburg, Minn., and moved to Olmsted County in 1939. She lived on a farmstead from 1941 to 1966, then lived in Rochester. She married Milbert Walker; they later divorced. She then married Floyd E. Smith; he preceded her in death. She later married Milo "Jack" Koelsch; he preceded her in death. She worked at Rochester Methodist Hospital for nearly 28 years, retiring from the mailroom in 1984. She was a member of her church's women's circle, Rochester Garden Club, Friends of Mayowood, Olmsted County Historical Society and the Volunteer Connection. In 1993, she was the recipient of the Golden Deeds Award. Formerly a member of Douglas United Methodist for 40 years, she was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Wilbert (Joyce) Walker of Mantorville and Jay Floyd Smith of Wanamingo; a daughter, Paulette (John) Uttech of Mankato, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Dorothy (Buster) Cady of Douglas; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Val (Marilyn) Cook of Orr, Minn. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Douglas United Methodist Church, Evangel United Methodist Church or the Red Hatters National Group.
