Douglas County News, Castle Rock, Colorado, Thursday, January 16, 1964: JIM ENLOE OF SEDALIA GETS PROMOTION IN PROBATION DEPT. James C . Enloe, Route 1, Sedalia, has been appointed as a probation officer for the First , Seventeenth and Eighteenth Judicial Districts by virtue of a court order entered by the seven District Judges of the three districts. Enloe has been employed as a counselor for the Tri-District Probation Department since February,1963, and was promoted to Probation officer by the terms of the court action . Prior to entering probation work, Enloe served 24 years in the federal service. He was first employed at a Federal Reformatory in Chillicothe, Mo., in 1939, and went on the staff of the Federal Correction Institution, 9395 West Quincy av., on Aug. 12, 1940 where he worked as correctional officer and recreational director until his retirement Feb. 25, 1963. Enloe resides with his wife at Sedalia. He has a son in the armed forces and a married daughter, Mrs . Allen Hower of Thornton, whose husband is athletic director at Mapleton High School. From 1944 to 1957 Enloe worked as a basketball and football referee and official in the Denver area.

Enlow [Enloe], who retired from the Colorado Probations Department and the Federal Correctional Institute, died May 13, at Porter Memorial Hospital. He was 84. Memorial services were May 17 at Drinkwine Mortuary. He was born March 16, 1901, in Belmont, Wis. He attended LaCrosse Teacher's College. On Nov. 20, 1934, he married Elissa Hartmann in Galena, Ill. He is survived by his wife; a son, James Jr., Castle Rock; a daughter, Patricia Hower, Denver; a brother, Newman; two sisters. Mildred Enloe and Dorothy Buck; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Jackson Creek Fire Department No. 105, Sedalia 80135.
